Hippo Ten: Review

Vanessa from Jaben Singapore paid us a visit yesterday, and she brought something special along, a Hippo TEN!! The name resembles the size of drivers it carries, 10mm highly-detailed, super-transparent drivers.
I have yet to see the packaging, but the build quality seems like it was made by a jewelery maker. The cable is wrapped in dark-silver plastic-fiber-like sleeving, and the body is made of aluminum, giving it a durability like nothing Hippo has ever came up with. Yes, I�m pretty sure that the company has learned -and continue learning- from the past and therefore adds some elements that didn�t exist in the past Hippo products.
Fitting � it is so much better than the previous Hippos, thanks to its tilted nozzle design, similar to those in audiotechnica cks-70, or the superlux for instance.
Sound characteristic � this is where the Ten really shines!! Its detailed characteristic outperforms almost everything you can mention in sub USD$100, I can even compare this side by side to any earphones with twice its retail price, the phonak audeo for instance. Altough Ten loses in the overall analytical and technical side, it definitely offers you pleasure of being able to hear music in detail with less need of analyzing the details, it just flows.
Highs: Nice, clean highs, very good transparency
Mids: Just enough, not involving but not too laid back as well
Lows: Much more controlled than the Shrooms, but still lacking � at least bigger than the etymotics
Other special features: the 3.5mm jack is very similar to the one used in westone um3x, real classy!!
This IEM will be priced around SGD80, in my opinion the best bang for the buck. If you�re a basshead, go for VB, but if you like shroom and want more details and transparency, definitely go for the TEN!
This is just my opinion, in which I write this impression without being forced, drunk or under heavy sedation, anything I said shouldn�t be used against me in any court, be it tennis court or badminton court

Build quality and accessories.
Build quality is good. The housing is made of high quality plastic and the cable is 130cm, with a 90 degree jack. The cable is very nice and one of the best I have seen and used, especially the jack is excellent.
The included accessories are, different sized silicone sleeves (S, M, L) in red/blue, a clip and a soft pouch. The red/blue sleeves are very good, as they make the right/left channel so easily recognisable.
Comfort and fit.
The 10’s are light and above average sized. They are to be worn with the cable running straight down, even if they can be used over the ear too, but the design is for straight down use only. They are a combination of IEM’s and an earbud, the sleeve is inside the earcanal, while the rest of the earphone rests in the outer ear. This gives a very good comfort and a isolation that is so much better than normal earbuds. Microphonics can be reduced with the clip.
Sound quality.
As a dynamic IEM they require time to settle (burn in) to sound their best.
The 10’s offer a natural and neutral sound. The high quality bass is very natural and more of a sub-bass than a thumping mid-bass, mids are detailed and smooth, the highs are natural and very nice. The soundstage is big and expansive. The natural and neutral sound reminds me of the Hippo VB, they share the same deep bass and natural presentation.
My test tracks sound very natural and true to life, without becoming boring or flat, the 10’s bring out the dynamics of the music in a way that not many IEM’s can.
To sum up.
The good: very good and natural sound with real sub-bass, red/blue sleeves, great cable.
The bad: the half IEM/half earbud style may not fit everyone, not easily available to buy.
Verdict: Excellent sound. Highly recommended.
2) Black Walnut IEMS..
ini iems yang cukup langka, dia maennya di deep bass jadi cocok untuk latin, jazz. soul dll...
desain cukup unik dan kalo gua bisa bilang g semua orang punya..
so kalo lo mau "lain dari pada yang lain" ini cans cocok buat lo....
