The 38-year-old scored the equalising goal in the club's 1-1 Champions League group stage draw away to Manchester City on Tuesday and in turn became the competition's oldest ever goalscorer.
Zoff was quizzed on the respective merits of several Italy greats from recent years and hailed Totti for his range of attributes, while adding he was unsurprised to see him still producing moments of brilliance in his late 30s.
"I saw the goal, it was very nice," he told Corriere Dello Sport.
"Let's talk about great players, including Italians, the best of the past 25 years. Del Piero was a goalscorer, [Roberto] Baggio a great finisher, extraordinary when slaloming past players. Totti is the most complete, though, and also brings great physical strength."
