Setelah rombongan kura-kura �berhasil� mengganggu operasi Bandara John F Kennedy di New York, AS, kini giliran gerombolan ubur-ubur membuat repot sebuah pembangkit listrik tenaga nuklir di Skotlandia, Inggris.


Dua reaktor nuklir di PLTN Torness, dekat kota Dunbar, Skotlandia timur laut, terpaksa dipadamkan, Selasa (28/6), setelah ditemukan ubur-ubur dalam jumlah banyak menyumbat saluran penyaring air laut. Air laut digunakan sebagai pendingin reaktor tersebut saat beroperasi.


Pihak EDF Energy, operator PLTN itu, mengatakan, pemadaman reaktor tersebut adalah murni tindakan berjaga-jaga dan sama sekali tidak menimbulkan risiko bahaya bagi masyarakat maupun lingkungan. Begitu reaktor dipadamkan, para pekerja langsung membersihkan tumpukan ubur-ubur dan memantau perairan di sekitar PLTN untuk mencegah penumpukan ubur-ubur atau benda penyumbat lain, seperti rumput laut.


Belum diketahui kapan PLTN, yang mampu membangkitkan energi listrik bagi 2,5 juta rumah, itu akan dioperasikan lagi.
