Meski ide-ide liar terkadang diperlukan untuk memperkaya sesi bercinta, tetapi posisi misionari atau pria di atas tetap menjadi favorit banyak pasangan. Dalam sebuah survei terungkap 36 persen responden lebih memilih posisi "klasik" tersebut dibanding variasi posisi lainnya.

Survei seks nasional di Amerika Serikat tahun 2011 tersebut dilakukan terhadap 3.000 responden berusia di atas 18 tahun dan disponsori oleh merk kondom Trojan.


Setelah posisi misionari, di urutan kedua posisi yang banyak dipilih responden adalah doggie style yang dipilih oleh 17 persen responden, diikuti dengan posisi misionari terbalik 14 persen.


Meski 52 persen wanita lebih memilih penetrasi vagina daripada seks oral, tetapi 32 persen menjawab menyukai kedua teknik tersebut dan 16 persen mengaku lebih suka jika pasangannya melakukan seks oral.


Kehadiran alat permainan seks (sex toys) dirasakan membantu dalam meningkatkan gairah 63 persen pria dan wanita. Sekitar 38 persen wanita menjawab mereka menggunakan vibrator ketika berhubungan seks dengan pasangannya dan 67 persen responden mengaku terbuka untuk memakai sex toys di masa mendatang.


Sementara itu tempat yang dianggap paling "hot" untuk berintim-intim adalah mobil (48 persen) dan 33 persen menjawab tempat tidur orang lain.
