Masa depan web kini sudah mulai kehabisan IP adress, namun beberapa pihak telah mengujicobakan sebuah protokol baru, IPv6, sebagai solusinya.

Seperti yang dikutip dari Mashable, Senin (13/6/2011), semua perangkat yang terkoneksi ke web memiliki IP address; protokol untuk alamat-alamat tersebut. Edisi lama IPv4, hanya mendukung sekira 4 miliar alamat IP.

IPv6 adalah sebuah protokol baru, yang menggantikan IPv4. IPv6 akan membuat ruang untuk IP address dalam jumlah besar. Kini yang harus dipersiapkan oleh masyarakat adalah bersiap-siap untuk melakukan transisi dari satu protokol ke protokol lainnya.

Tanggal 8 Juni IPv6 sudah mulai diujicobakan. Sekira 400 organisasi, antara lain Google, Facebook, Mozila dan lain-lain, telah bekerjasama dan menawarkan akses ke situs mereka melalui IPv6 untuk masa ujicoba 24 jam.

IPV6 adalah revisi ke enam untuk Internet Protocol dan merupakan penerus dari IPV4. Kedua protokol tersebut menyediakan alamat IP address untuk perangkat yang terkoneksi ke internet. Namun bahwa IPv6 bisa menampung jumlah IP address yang jauh lebih besar.

masi kepake ipv4, ngga ngerti gimana, cuma katanya konfigurasinya lebih gampang
