The Story



In the far reaches of space, factions of humanity battle over a rare and dangerous resource known as rift energy. Colonies of rift miners, called Rifters, have been prospecting throughout the new frontier, harversting the rift energy for profit. Threatening the Rifters' way of life are the Outcast, mutated humans who have evolved due to exposure to rift energy. The Outcast now believe the Rift is sacred, and will savagely fight to protect it at all costs. Drawn into the conflict is Emmett Graves, a former Rifter ostracized from society due to his exposure to Rift Energy, which left him partially mutated and scarred. Graves travels the frontier as a Rift Salvager - a hired gun with knack for saving claims from the Outcast threat. Emmett is charged with protecting his former home of White Sands from a cold-blooded Outlaw and his Outcast warband.



The Frontier



Welcome to the New Frontier



A lawless assembly of planets where Rifters have rushed to find their fortune or end. Here pockets of Rift energy exist hidden inside scattered moons and planets ready to be discovered. After generations of Rift mining, the Frontier has become a violent battle ground where Rifters and Outcast struggle for control over this rare and mysterous resource.



Rift Energy



Known as "Blue Gold", Rift energy is a very lucrative power source that is sought out and mined across the Frontier. However, exposure to Rift energy carries dangerous side effects, including human mutation and death.



The resource is a substance of wealth that motivates Rifters to travel from far and wide to capture it, while mutated humans known as the Outcast depend on the energy to survive by absorbing it into bodies.



Competing for the control of the rifts, the two factions of humanity have clashed over the years, resulting in warfare. The battle for rift energy continues as the humans gather behind Emmett to defend White Sands and protect their rift mining sites throughout the Outer Spur.



White Sands



Located on the planet Dust within the Outer Spur sector of the frontier, White Sands is a small, rift mining community looking to make a humble living and survive by fulfilling their quota to the Rifter Unions. Their way of life becomes threatened by Outcast warbands lead by a figure branded as "The Outlaw."



Mayor Jonas Clayton decides to hire the legendary rift salvager and gunslinger, Emmett Graves, to help the community. The violence quickly escalates as the citizens of White Sands fight to save their town.
