Entertainment Weekly mengumumkan film animasi terbaik versi mereka. Pinocchio yang dirilis tahun 1940, menjadi film klasik paling jadul yang masuk dalam 20 besar daftar film animasi terbaik sepanjang masa.



Film dianggap menjadi tonggak pertama film produksi Disney yang punya nilai lebih lantaran berhasil menemukan formula jitu, yakni menghadirkan konsep cerita yang menghibur juga memberi nilai-nilai moral. Pinocchio berada di urutan ke-18 dalam daftar tersebut. Di urutan paling bontot, ada Ghost in the Shell (1995) garapan sutradara Mamoru Oshii. Film animasi ini mengisahkan tentang sebuah ruh yang kehilangan tempatnya, ketika tubuh-tubuh itu dikuasai mesin.



Sementara itu, film animasi keluaran tahun 2009, yang dipandang sebagai film animasi terbaik adalah Up dan Coraline. Up, film garapan sutradara Pete Docter (Monster Inc.) berada di posisi tiga besar, sementara Coraline menutup urutan film animasi terbaik di posisi kesepuluh.
