Alam memberikan hiburan gratis bagi mereka yang terbiasa tidur larut malam. Lepas tengah malam nanti atau mulai Kamis (16/5/2011) dini hari, akan terjadi gerhana bulan total. Diperkirakan cuaca akan cerah, sehingga fenomena alam tersebut bisa disaksikan langsung secara kasat mata.

Menurut Direktur Observatorium Bosscha Lembang, Hakim L Malasan, gerahana terjadi mulai pukul 01.25 WIB dan total pada 2.25 WIB. Kemudian maksimum gerhana total di mana bulan seluruhnya ditutupi bayangan bumi akan terjadi pada pukul 03.14 WIB. Gerhana baru berakhir bertepatan dengan adzan subuh pukul 05.04 WIB.

"Bulan akan ditutup oleh bayangan bumi, yang tadinya bulan berwarna putih akan menjadi hitam kemerahan dan itu berlangsung cukup lama. Ini spektakuler kalau disaksikan," ujar Hakim saat dihubungi.

Bosscha sendiri, lanjutnya, bekerjasama dengan Kominfo dan observatorium lainnya di Yogyakarta, Aceh, Pakanbaru, Lapan di Pameungpeuk, dan Mataram akan menyaksikan fenomena itu dan hasilnya akan live streaming di website Kominfo. "Ini ujicoba live streaming baru," ujarnya.

Lebih lanjut Hakim menjelaskan, teropong akan dipasangi kamera CCD kemudian hasil pencitraannya akan disalurkan ke internet yang terhubung dengan internet lalu dikirim ke server milik Kominfo. "Nah live streaming kali ini akan mudah diakses oleh masyarakat luas melalui website resmi Kominfo dan Bosscha," terangnya.

Ia mengimbau bagi umat Islam bisa melaksanakan salat gerhana sebelum solat Subuh. "Ya kali-kali bangun lebih pagi untuk saksikan kebesaran ciptaan Allah," tuturnya.

Tak hanya pada tanggal 16 Juni, gerhana total juga akan terjadi lagi pada tahun ini pada 10 Desember 2011. Namun waktunya lebih awal, yaitu setelah Isya. "Gerhana awal pada pukul 19.46 WIB dan totalnya pukul 21.06 WIB, lalu berakhir 23.17 WIB," ungkapnya.
