Al Green Explores Your Mind

Albert Greene (born April 13, 1946), better known as Al Green, is an American gospel and soul music singer. He reached the peak of his popularity in the 1970s, with hit singles such as "You Oughta Be With Me", "I'm Still In Love With You", "Love and Happiness", and "Let's Stay Together". In 2005, Rolling Stone named him #65 in their list of the '100 Greatest Artists of All Time'. The nomination stated that "people are born to do certain things, and Al was born to make us smile." The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Green in 1995, referring to him as "one of the most gifted purveyors of soul music." Green has sold more than 20 million records.

Al Green Explores Your Mind is his eighth album. Unlike previous Al Green albums, this album only featured one major hit, the U.S. #7 hit "Sha-La-La (Make Me Happy)", but did contain the original version of "Take Me to the River", a song which went to #26 on the Billboard chart when covered by Talking Heads in 1978. In 2004, the song "Take Me to the River" was ranked number 117 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.

The album was his fifth consecutive album to claim #1 on the Soul Albums chart, and peaked at #15 on the Pop Albums chart.

Barry White Barry White The Man

The Man is the self-produced eighth album by American R&B singer Barry White. Released in 1978 on the 20th Century Records label. The album became White's sixth R&B chart topper and peaked at #36 on the pop chart. Lead single "Your Sweetness Is My Weakness" reached #2 on the R&B chart, while White's cover of Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" made #12 in the UK. The first three tracks (originally Side One) are uptempo with a noticeable Latin influence, while the remainder (Side Two) are ballads. A cover version of "It's Only Love Doing Its Thing" (with the shortened title "It's Only Love") would be a hit for British band Simply Red in 1989.

Chicago Chicago 19

Chicago 19 is the 19th album by American rock band Chicago and was released in 1988. After recording Chicago 18 with David Foster, the band decided to expand their sound with other producers and worked primarily with Ron Nevison and Chas Sandford for this album. There was also a slight shifting in labels, with their Full Moon Records imprint now being carried by Reprise Records.

Similar to the reaction to its predecessor, Chicago 19 became a moderate success on the album chart (although it went platinum) yet had major hit singles, including the #1 hit "Look Away", as well as "I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love" (#3), and "You're Not Alone" (#10). A slightly remixed version of Jason Scheff's "What Kind Of Man Would I Be?" (#5) would also prove to be a big success in late 1989, as part of the follow-up Greatest Hits 1982-1989 release. This album was the first Chicago effort to spotlight keyboardist/singer Bill Champlin on lead vocals, who sang all three of the album's hit singles. The fact that the group was highlighting a different voice on singles that had no signature horn sound may have hindered 19's sales. The album also relied heavily on outside writers, continuing a trend from the previous album. The first two singles were written by Diane Warren (who was virtually ruling the charts at that time) with the third penned by Jim Scott.

However, following its release, there would be another line-up casualty with the surprising 1990 firing of founding drummer Danny Seraphine, making Chicago 19 his last project with Chicago, just over twenty years after they originally formed. He was replaced on the next studio album by session drummer Tris Imboden, who remains to this day.

Daryl Hall + John Oates H2O

H2O is the eleventh studio album from Daryl Hall and John Oates, released in 1982. A hit, it featured three top 10 US singles, one being "Maneater", which was the biggest hit of their career, spending four weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The album title is a play on the chemical formula for water, where "H" is for Hall, and "O" is for Oates.

H2O is certified double platinum by the RIAA with sales of over two million copies.

In 2009, Sony Music Custom Marketing Group released a triple pack of Hall & Oates albums. Along with this album, the pack included Daryl Hall & John Oates and Ooh Yeah!.
