Gotham City Impostors is a multiplayer game unlike any other, giving players the opportunity to rebel against conformity as they customise their own characters. Posing as amateur vigilantes or villains, gamers will create their very own Bats and Jokerz characters using unprecedented customisation options including insane costumes, homebrewed gadgets and a wide range of traditional and imagined weapons. The game features maps and modes inspired by DC Comics' Batman license.

When Batman is away, the wannabe heroes and villains come out to play. That's the setup for Gotham City Imposters, an over-the-top multiplayer game that DC and Monolith promise will blow up your expectations for superhero games. See what the hell that means in the game's new CG trailer.



Here's a synopsis of gameplay in Gotham City Imposters: you'll create your own wacky vigilante or villain, complete with costume and homebrewed weapons and gadgets, and then take to the streets of Gotham for cartoony 6-vs-6 FPS multiplayer matches. And judging by the trailer, it will be a very tongue-in-cheek experience:







Of note: Monolith actually takes the premise of the game from a story arc in Detective Comics #867-891, in which a variation of the Joker drug causes mass mental breakdowns, dividing citizens of Gotham into two gangs, one led by a Batman wannabe determined to restore justice and another by a Joker cosplayer out to cause havoc.



Gotham City Imposters is a downloadable title in development for Windows PCs, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network.
