MENTAWAI- Kekuatan gelombang tsunami yang meluluh-lantahkan daratan Kepulauan Mentawai beberapa hari lalu sungguh dahsyat.

Betapa tidak, gelombang tsunami mampu mengangkat batu karang sebesar mobil kijang dari dasar laut hingga terdampar di perbukitan Desa Muntey, Baru-Baru. Hal itu diceritakan warga setempat Nangsariah kepada okezone Minggu (31/10/2010).

"Awalnya air laut berputar-putar lalu bergejolak seperti air mendidih, tak lama ombak laut setinggi 12 meter naik ke darat. Saat itulah batu karang sebesar mobil kijang memporak-porandakan rumah warga," tuturnya.

Saat ini warga Desa Muntey, Baru-Baru, masih mengungsi ke perbukitan mengingat ombak besar masih sering melanda perairan Kepulauan Mentawai. (tri)(ful)
