Warga kota-kota besar pasti tahu sulitnya menemukan tempat terbuka yang nyaman untuk bersantai ditengah padatnya lalu-lintas kota seperti Jakarta. Hal ini pula yang mendasari pemerintah kota Seville di Spanyol untuk mencanangkan pengembangan kembali daerah downtown atau pertengahan kota daerahnya. Kontes yang diadakan akhirnya memunculkan Metropol Parasol, sebuah community center atau pusat komunitas raksasa dengan desain yang radikal. Seluruh konstruksi Metropol menggunakan %100 kayu.



Didesain oleh J. Mayer H., Metropol Parasol mengambil tempat seluas 12,670 meter persegi dan dibangun selama lima tahun dengan biaya sekitar 90 juta euro. Bagaimana, Jakarta? Akankah membangun community center seperti ini?
