Sonnenschiff sebuah kota di Freiburg, Jerman ini memiliki kelebihan yang tidak dimiliki kota lain, dimana "seluruh kebutuhan energi kota ini di suplai dengan menggunakan sinar matahari yang dikenal dengan energi surya".

Didesain oleh Rolf Disc, dimana Rumah-rumah ini memiliki atap memungkinkan sinar matahari tetap di simpan pada musim dingin dan menjadi tameng bagi bangunan dari sinar matahari pada musim panas. Bagian atap juga memiliki sistem daur air hujan yang mengairi taman-taman dan mensuplai air ke toilet.
