Jakarta - Pembesut BlackBerry, Research In Motion (RIM), mengakuisisi perusahaan video editing asal Swedia, JayCut. Perusahaan ini akan bekerja menggarap berbagai fitur untuk tablet BlackBerry PlayBook.

"Bekerjasama dengan JayCut kami menambahkan kemampuan video editing ke platform BlackBerry. Lebih jauh lagi kami bisa memperkaya pengalaman multimedia konsumen dengan BlackBerry," tulis Chief Technology Officer RIM, David Yach dalam blog resmi RIM.

Dikutip detikINET dari Reuters, Senin (25/7/2011), RIM tidak menyebut ini sebagai akuisisi. Namun yang jelas, dengan kesepakatan ini, tujuh pegawai perusahaan yang berpusat di Stockholm tersebut memberikan lisensi video editor online mereka ke pengguna gadget RIM.

Dengan demikian, JayCut bergabung dengan perusahaan desain asal Stockholm, The Astonishing Tribe, yang dibeli RIM pada Desember tahun silam untuk meningkatkan user interface.

Akhir-akhir ini RIM mengakuisisi sejumlah perusahaan demi memenuhi kebutuhan untuk memperkaya kemampuan produknya. Perusahaan yang diakuisisi itu di antaranya termasuk QNX Software yang menyediakan sistem operasi bagi BlackBerry PlayBook dan Torch Mobile yang memungkinkan RIM meng-upgrade web browser-nya.

Di PC aja kadang-kadang semerawut...
